Since the Internet is essentially a global meeting place – Why don’t you consider opening your contest up to people who live in other parts of the world?
Bloomsbury Publishing, in association with the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook, launches the Short Sentence crime writing competition. We’re challenging you to write a tale of dastardly deeds in 1000 words or less. Each month we’ll feature a short story by one of Bloomsbury’s crime authors thus setting a theme and laying down the creative gauntlet. We’ll be collecting entries throughout the year and the winner will be announced during National Short Story Week in November.
Prizes will include ePublication of your short story, tickets to Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival and a place at the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook Conference 2013. For full details of how to enter visit the Rules and Submissions section of the website.
You can read the first chapter of the Featured Author’s latest book in our AUTHORS section as well as finding out the themes and authors for all the stories this year.

Hi Tom, We’d love to open it up but competition law is different the world over and leads to obvious restrictions.
